How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Skid Steer in Northern Utah?
Thinking about renting a skid steer for a project around the house or a job site in Northern Utah? Whether you're grading a yard, clearing brush, digging fence-post holes, or hauling away debris, a skid steer does in an afternoon what would take days by hand. Here's a straightforward breakdown of what it costs to rent one from K4 Leasing in Willard — and what actually drives the price.
K4 Leasing skid steer rental rates
We keep pricing simple on our Bobcat S185 skid steer:
- 8 hours — $200 (perfect for a single-day project)
- 24 hours — $250 (great if you want the machine overnight)
- Each additional day — $200/day for multi-day jobs
A refundable $100 hold covers the equipment during your rental, and an optional damage waiver is available for $50 if you'd like extra peace of mind.
What affects the total cost
How long you need it. Most homeowner projects wrap up in a single 8-hour day. Bigger site work — driveway prep or larger grading jobs — often makes the 24-hour or multi-day rate the better value.
Attachments. The skid steer is far more useful with the right attachment. We rent several that pair with the S185: a skid steer auger (6", 12", and 24" bits) for fence posts and footings, a trencher for irrigation and utility lines, a toothed bucket for digging and rocky ground, pallet forks for moving materials, and a 72" tiller for garden and lawn prep.
Getting it to your site. The S185 needs to be hauled on a trailer rated for it. We rent an equipment trailer (10,000 lb GVWR, 18-ft deck plus a 2-ft dovetail) built to haul the skid steer, and a 7x14 dump trailer (14,000 lb GVWR) if you also need to haul off dirt or debris. We'll help you load and chain everything down.
Renting vs. buying
A new skid steer runs tens of thousands of dollars, plus maintenance, storage, and a trailer to move it. For occasional projects, renting for a day or two is a small fraction of that — you get a well-maintained machine, use it, and hand it back.
